Flagging Certification and Flagger Training


A. (1) It is the responsibility of the contractor to provide flagger (s) to direct traffic when construction takes place on or near the surface with the passengers.

Certification must meet the standards set forth in this document and the "Guidelines for Flagger Training and Certification of Flaggers" available in the Department. Certification cards issued under these rules for other entrepreneurs, provided they have not expired shall be considered valid.
(2) Flaggers must be familiar with the contents of the "Flagging Handbook," and makes a copy of the publication of their person while performing tasks flagger. This publication is available in engineering.

C. To obtain Flagging Certification, you must:
(1) Be in good health and normal vision and hearing loss.
(2) Be able to read and speak English.
(3) See the video of 45 minutes "the flag".
(4) Correctly answer 80 percent of the questions on a test that accompanies the video.

D. After successfully completing the procedure for training and testing, the flag should be looking for a certification card issued by the contractor Signalman review. The name of the flag, social security number, and test results should be reported to the construction engineer on Form 90 DR "FlaggerCertification Report."

E. Video review forms, flakes certification card, flag, certification reports, and "Guidelines for Flagger Training and Certification of Flaggers' shall be furnished by the Department"

Flagging Certification Classes - Certified Flagger Training


Department of Transportation Standard Specifications and Traffic Control Devices Manual on Uniform (MUTCD). "The Certified Flagger - All flaggers must be properly trained in the operations of the reporting by accredited training programs, unions or associations in the construction industry, or a person holding a current flagging certification.

Flagger Certification, Training, Course, Class

ABLE Safety Consulting offers the Flagger certification training course class.  The flaggingcertification program was designated to the training center by the DOT and is a self-funded program.  The Flagger certification training course guidelines are administered by New York State Department of Transportation.

Flagger training courses are held in New York every month.

Participants need to take a written test, and those who efficiently complete the examination are accredited by New York State Department of Transportation.
  

Flagger Certification Training Class Description:


The four-hour flagger certification course meets the fundamental requirements of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). After the flagging training participants are fully aware of and have an understanding of:
  •     The incredible importance of correct signing,
  •     The significance of flagger positioning,
  •     The significance of a suitable dress code,
  •     The appropriate use of flagger tools and signaling for stopping,
  •     Slowing and releasing traffic,
  •     Night time flagging,

Flagger Certification - Flagging Safety Training Course

Flaggers are the most important members of your construction or maintenance crew. In order to protect your work zones, every flagger is required to know proper flagging procedures and use the appropriate equipment. Chapter 6E of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control (MUTCD) contains all of the flagger requirements and recommendations.

We offers Flagger Training as part of flagger training program. Classes may be scheduled at your facility provided the following conditions are met:

1. A minimum of 40 people is required to offer this training. (If you do not have this many employees, work with other local agencies in you area to organize a joint class.)
2. A roster of all attendees must be provided two weeks before the start date or the class will be cancelled.

Who should receive this training?

This flagger certification training is appropriate for any local agency employee who may perform as a flagger in emergency or non-emergency situations. This includes highway department employees (workers and supervisors), public utility employees, police officers, and firemen (volunteer and full-time).
